I have been a client at Boutique since the summer of 2012 and I can truly say Boutique Fitness has such a special place in my heart. The New Bedford studio has been my home away from home, a place where I always feel welcome, encouraged, and strong. Boutique Fitness, Lara, and Angela have been there for some of my toughest moments as well as some of my happiest.
I have done a few of the 10 in 10 challenges over the years, but I really started to dive into my nutrition with the most recent 10 in 10 and to my surprise, I even won! This year, my fiancé joined me and it was great to have a partner during the challenge. We looked up healthy recipes, grocery shopped, and cooked together during the ten weeks. We were there to support each other on the days when we needed a little more encouragement. Matt and I both kept food journals (game changer!) and sent them to Kristin each week. We would compare our feedback from her and as a non-competitive person, I was surprised when I pushed harder when he got better feedback than I did!
Keeping a food journal was an important part of the 10 in 10 for me. It was a way for me to really look at what I was eating and see where I needed to make changes based on feedback from Kristin. One of the main take-aways that I learned was the importance of incorporating vegetables in every meal and breaking away from the idea of traditional breakfast foods. Her suggestion about adding frozen riced cauliflower to smoothies is a great way to up the veggies at breakfast!
As a person, who, for many years has tried to out train a mediocre diet, it finally clicked how important nutrition is in meeting your fitness goals and feeling your best. Not only is Kristin a fantastic coach in the studio, she is equally fantastic and knowledgeable with nutrition. She has a way of pushing you towards more. She has helped change the way I see food and what it can do for both my body and my mind. Showing up at Boutique and getting my workout in has always been easy for me, but keeping my nutrition in check has always been harder. It’s an area where I need to put in a conscious effort. It’s a work in progress, but I have the tools I learned from Kristin and know she is an email away when I need some extra motivation. Thank you, Boutique Fitness for being an amazing support system!
