Love. There’s no greater motivator. The love for your children, your partner, siblings, parents, friends, community… yourself.
The world’s a mess right now. It can easily feel like there’s so much love lost, but I insist that’s not the case. One helpful practice to commit to is breaking things down to what we can actually influence.
When there seems to be so much turmoil, and hope is put to its test, we must focus on our immediate sphere of control. Who can we lift up? How can we spread joy? What can we do today that has a positive impact on our health – physical, mental, emotional? Who makes us happy, respected, seen? What narrative can we spread about the future that is hopeful?

In our immediate sphere, we have control. How we treat others, how we treat ourselves, who we surround ourselves with, what we do for our communities, etc.
Our sphere of influence is more broadly defined, like ‘working with what you’re given’. For example, how you respond to stressors, or how you handle your part in sharing a space with others, or whether your mindset is fixed or you’re able to anticipate changes.
And of course, there’s that sphere where we do not have control… These days, you may be feeling like this one is encroaching on the others. If that’s the case, I implore you to continue to build your buffer in the sphere of influence and your fortress in the sphere of control.
If you are a Boutique Fitness client, then you know that the studios are a safe space. We insist on providing an atmosphere of support and encouragement to everyone that walks through our doors. We don’t take it lightly that you’ve made us a part of your sphere of control. We are a community, and in every situation – good or bad – you take care of your community.
This is an important time to keep your chin up and do the work that helps foster love and unity. February is heart health month. Do the things, and surround yourself with the people, that bring joy and love to your heart.
We love you.
