I grew up in Fairhaven and now live in Mattapoisett with my husband, two year old son and 3 year old Labrador. My fitness journey began at a young age with sports. Ultimately, soccer became my passion and I played for Framingham State University for four years, where I was the Captain my junior and senior year. Being part of a team was so important to shaping me as a person and taking on the role of Captain taught me leadership skills and how my actions can set a positive example to others.
I began group training at Boutique Fitness when the Mattapoisett studio opened and completely fell in love with the coaches, the workouts and the convenience. When I became pregnant with my son, I continued the workouts and learned to slow down and listen to my body. It was important to me to stay strong throughout my pregnancy and equally important to accept my limitations as my body changed during pregnancy and postpartum. Having the leadership and support of the Boutique coaches helped keep me motivated and allowed my workouts to remain a safe and healthy outlet. This inspired me to reach out and join the BF coaches team to connect with clients who are looking to begin or maintain their fitness journey.
I am a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the Blind and Visually Impaired. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Education, with a Certification in Orientation and Mobility. I teach school-aged students who are blind and visually impaired the skills and techniques necessary to be safe, efficient and independent travelers. It is truly an inspiring and rewarding career!
Favorite exercise: I LOVE using the TRX for Body Weight exercises. There is so much you can do with the suspension straps and they can provide a challenge for learners of all levels.
Fitness Tip: A great workout can bring you energy, improve your mood and allow you to remove yourself from the day-to-day stress and focus on yourself (if only for a brief time!). The hardest part can be getting yourself out the door, so having a regularly scheduled appointment that becomes part of your routine is huge! Accountability + Consistency = Results! Also, nutrition is equally (if not more) important to seeing results.
