Kristin graduated from law school; she practiced mostly family law and some personal injury and worker’s compensation law before deciding to make a drastic career change. Kristin enjoyed working out and started to teach group exercise classes at the Fall River and Dartmouth YMCA. She heard about Boutique Fitness and after working out in several sessions, she sat down with Lara and Angela who offered her a job in October 2014. “It was a great opportunity and I could not be happier that I took it. I worked part time at my law office and part time at Boutique for about a year before I finally decided to close my law office. It’s very challenging emotionally and physically going from one job where the clients need your help and are in a tough spot in life (practicing law) to going to your second job where clients actually want your help and want to see you (working at Boutique).” When Kristin came back from maternity leave in February 2016, she began working at Boutique 5 days a week. “It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’m so thankful that I get to do what I love everyday. It’s such a pleasure to train clients, to get to know everyone and to give people a great workout at the same time. Clients have become like family to me; I think about them even when I’m not actually working or at the studio. I’m the tough love kind of trainer but I love each and every client.”
Kristin also does the meal planning for clients and loves it. “Cooking is another passion of mine (as well as baking- for special occasions). Meal prep and planning are so important to reaching your fitness goals. I feel blessed and lucky to be a trainer at Boutique. I enjoy working there every day. I mean if I didn’t enjoy my job there would be no way I would be able to get up at 3:45am 5 days a week. Of course, this wouldn’t be possible without the love and support of my wonderful husband, Neil and my beautiful daughter, Claire.”
Kristin’s favorite workout tips
Ounces are lost in the gym but pounds are lost in the kitchen. Even just a little meal planning and prep can go a long way. There is absolutely no way you can out-exercise a bad diet. I love leg and core exercises (that’s usually bonus rounds for me). I also actually like body weight exercises as well because they can be done anywhere. So when people go on vacation or need to take some time away from Boutique they can still get a great workout in. No excuses; get it done!
