red sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 can organic crushed tomatoes
  • 1 large onion
  • 1/2 a head of garlic (you can make this with just the onion or just the garlic if you want)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp oregano
  • 1 1/2 tbsp basil
  • salt & pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Directions

  1. In a sauce pan, cook (med/high heat) the onion and garlic in the olive oil until the onion is translucent (about 5-8 minutes)
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 45 minutes.
  3. Remove the bay leaves and use an immersion blender to puree the sauce.
