If you’ve trained with Raquel, you know her passion and raw energy are contagious and you’re bound to have a good time while building that bootie.
We’re excited to sit down with Raquel for a Q& A, giving you a chance to learn more about her journey and how you can connect with her for tailored nutrition guidance.
What inspired you to pursue a career in fitness and nutrition?
I’ve always been an active person. But once I stopped playing sports at a high level, I started to feel like crap. I was gaining weight, losing confidence and just didn’t feel like myself. I knew I was missing some critical pieces of fitness and nutrition so that’s when I decided to take a step back, build a program that’s proven to work and put myself through that program. Now I want people to feel the same way and help them get there
Do you have any personal fitness or wellness goals right now?
I recently got engaged so my current goal is to feel strong and confident as a Fiancé💍. I just completed a “bulk” to build some bigger stronger muscles(back & glutes lol) , so now I’m going thru a small cut so you can see those muscles pop
How would you describe your coaching style or philosophy?
My coaching style is all about building small sustainable habits and getting out of that “all or nothing” mindset. I’ll be your annoying bff through this experience! This ensures clients aren’t overwhelmed and stay consistent while building their healthiest and happiest lifestyle
What type of clients do you typically work with?
I work with a huge range of clients from a 13 year old elite dancer to an 80 year old golfer. I specialize in personalizing your workouts, meal plans, and habits to your current lifestyle so you become your best self
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their fitness journey?
My favorite advice is to start slow and build from there. Bad with water? Focus this week on increasing your intake. Then next week add some more steps to your day. Small changes lead up to HUGE results
When a client starts working with you for nutrition coaching, what does that process look like?
We first begin with a consultation call to learn more about each other. I ask all about your current daily/weekly schedule and what challenges you face to reach your goals. I’ll go through your sleep, hydration, eating habits, energy levels, etc. From there we build your sample meal plans and teach you exactly what your body needs for your goals.
Can you share some advice you give when someone feels discouraged?
When people are feeling down I tell them to find the “glimmers” (or small wins) each day. Find something that makes you smile and appreciate it. Did the sunset look amazing? Be grateful you can see all the colors! Did you wake up and get out of bed when you didn’t want to? That’s a win. Be proud
What are your favorite fitness activities outside of work?
I love moving my body and finding new ways to do so. In the winter, you can catch me snowboarding with friends🏂Whenever the weather is nice, I’ll be walking around the beach or park. I have gotten into roller skating this year and we have gone the last few weekends 🛼
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know?
Haha- I have a pet snake…. And I hate running (if you see me running call the police)
